QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be licensed by the Arkansas State Board of Examiners in Psychology
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education
JOB GOAL: To assess the psycho-educational needs of students referred for special education services and to provide support to school sites including intervention strategies, behavior management techniques/plans and consultation.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer and interpret tests of mental abilities, aptitudes, interests and personality traits or characteristics, for such purposes as psychological evaluation or for educational or vocational selection, guidance or placement for assigned schools and throughout the district upon request.
- Evaluate individual students’ intellectual and academic functioning, addressing psychological, medical, historical and environmental dynamics for school-age and/or early childhood students.
- Interpret District/State test data plus assessment from outside the District concerning the student’s psychological evaluation.
- Provide a written psychological report using district adopted format documenting test results, diagnosis, and recommendations.
- Coordinate Evaluation/Programming conferences with school administrators, parents, and teachers.
- Facilitate Evaluation/Programming conferences including interpreting test results, ensuring participation of all members, and assisting in the planning of appropriate educational programs for evaluated students.
- Serve as a consultant to school personnel concerning behavior management plans and/or contracts and conferences regarding discipline of students with disabilities.
- Keep abreast of changes in Federal/State laws affecting students with disabilities.
- Keep abreast of research and trends in the fields of evaluation and cultural differences of students being considered for special education.
- Collect statistical data on PCSSD students to determine characteristics and trends in the population regarding disabling conditions.
- Meet state and district required timelines for initial evaluations and reevaluations of special education students and make recommendations regarding: appropriate programming/placement and continuation of services.
- Facilitate and deliver professional development activities that foster program excellence, due process compliance, Response to Intervention strategies, and desegregation efforts.
- Provide expertise and assistance to general education teachers regarding Response to Intervention strategies and appropriate modifications.
- Monitor student folders to ensure all required evaluation components are present and original due process paperwork is placed in the central office files.
- Assist the district in all of its desegregation efforts.
- Maintain a schedule for job accountability; adhere to established job expectations, as well as other duties as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary Range: Range 11 - Support Staff Daily Salary Schedule ($278.00/day - $408.00/day) depending on relevant experience)
Length of Contract: 192 contract days

Performance of this job will be evaluated according to provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Staff Personnel
