QUALIFICATIONS:    

 

REPORTS TO:    Director of Special Education

 

JOB GOALS:      To help reduce or eliminate speech impediments that interfere with the individual student's ability to derive full benefit from the district's educational program.     

 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Evaluate and diagnose communication disorders according to state and federal special education guidelines.
  2. Participate in evaluation conferences.
  3. Implement an individual education plan for assigned students.
  4. Cooperate with teachers and parents by providing information, discussing  appropriate goals and offering any other assistance.
  5. Monitor and conduct ongoing evaluation of student progress.
  6. Participate in parent conferences to review students' progress.
  7. Conduct a conference when additional changes or discontinuance of a special  program is indicated.
  8. Cooperate in the districts' inservice training program.
  9. Maintain special education due process/work files.
  10. Document progress of students and maintain information needed for Medicaid billing.
  11. Know Board of Education policies, Desegregation Plan, district and school guidelines and regulations and adhere to the same.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

Salary Range:             Range 11 - Support Staff Daily Salary Schedule ($293.46/day – $430.68/day depending on relevant experience)

Length of Contract:    187 contract days

FLSA Status:               Exempt

Personnel Status:      Classified

 

 

EVALUATION:

 

Performance of this job will be evaluated according to provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Support Staff Personnel.
