LOCATIONS: ROBINSON MIDDLE SCHOOL & ROBINSON HIGH SCHOOL 

 

QUALIFICATION:  Candidates must be certified in Instrumental Music 125 (K-12) OR Instrumental Music 205 (PK - 8) AND Instrumental Music 206 (7 - 12).

 

REPORTS TO:  Coordinator of Fine Arts and Building Principal

 

JOB GOAL: To develop in each pupil an appreciation of the art of music as part of general culture; to teach techniques of vocal and/or instrumental music expression; to discover and develop talents of pupils in the field of music; to develop knowledge and skills in listening to and reading music.

 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Plan and implement at least one evening or Sunday community concerts the first semester and a minimum of two the second semester.
  2. Plan and implement senior high marching practices and limited Junior High  marching.  See page 213 of the curriculum guide.
  3. Hold individual or group combined rehearsals and practices outside the regular school hours.
  4. Perform at all home football games and a minimum of one away game.
  5. Schedule senior high home conference game "PEP" band activities in a manner that does not conflict with student's concert and/or regional contest preparation.
  6. Prepare students for auditions and participation in Junior Clinic, Senior Clinic, and All Region and All State Bands.
  7. Audition students for All Region and All State Bands when needed (All State - high school teachers only).
  8. Prepare bands for Arkansas School Band and Orchestra Association (ASBOA) concert contests.
  9. Budget time so that all students will have the opportunity of entering solo and/or ensemble contests.
  10. Participate in and prepare students for participation in Pulaski County Special School District sponsored music activities (Honors Band, etc.)
  11. Meet and participate in area or district wide in-service meetings.
  12. Participate in professional meetings such as those sponsored by ASBOA and ABA.
  13. Participate in Baccalaureate and/or Commencement Services.
  14. The junior high director is responsible for concerts, demonstrations, orientations, and recruiting in area elementary schools. The high school director and the Director of Activities will aid in recruiting procedures for parents and potential beginning instrumental music students.  Elementary concerts should be scheduled throughout the year and recruiting completed by March 1.
  15. Meet with and cooperate with interested parents and patrons.
  16. Supervise students at all band-sponsored activities.
  17. Support the Pulaski County Special School District desegregation commitment in the recruitment of minorities.
  18. The following is an estimated minimum total of hours spent outside the regular school day that will be required to meet performance guidelines.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary Range: Teacher Salary Schedule. (Placement depends upon education and experience.)
Length of Contract: 215 days per contract year
