QUALIFICATIONS:    Licensed Occupational Therapist

 

REPORTS TO:            Director of Special Education

 

JOB GOAL:                To utilize a medically-based training to evaluate and apply purposeful, goal-directed, developmentally sequenced activities to enhance the student’s potential for learning.

 

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Evaluate new students that have been referred to occupational therapy.
  2. Use standardized tests, and customized measures and/or observations to evaluate the student in areas of cognitive-perceptual motor skills, motor coordination, physco-social development, self-care, muscle strength and range of motion, postural reflexes, needs for adaptive devices and vocational skills.
  3. Make home visits for the purpose of evaluating the child within his or her home environment.
  4. Evaluate treatment effectiveness by observation, testing, communication with family and other sources.
  5. Utilize treatment procedures involving physical, sensory, manual, cognitive, and recreational or play activities designed to: Maintain or improve motor functioning such as normal developmental motor patterns, range of motion, muscle strength, gross and fine motor coordination, and activity tolerance; improve level of functioning in visual, auditory, tactile, kinesthetic perception, and cognitive-                   perception-motor integration skills.
  6. Instruct the student in the use of functional and adaptive equipment and devices.
  7. Formulate occupational policies and procedures.
  8. Schedule students for evaluation and treatment.
  9. Commitment to quality integrated education.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

Salary Range:              Range 11 - Support Staff Daily Salary Schedule ($293.46/day - $430.68/day depending on relevant experience)

Length of Contract:     187 contract days

FLSA Status:                Exempt

Personnel Status:        Classified                   

 

 

EVALUATION:

 

Performance of this job will be evaluated according to provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
